On May 22, The University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV), Switzerland, will host a public conference organized by the Ethics Committee of the Canton of Vaud (CER-VD), in collaboration with Oncosuisse and the CHUV.

This event will explore key issues surrounding conflicts of interest in academic research. Although research must uphold the highest scientific standards and generate meaningful social value while respecting the rights of participants, these priorities can sometimes be compromised. Conflicts of interest may arise when research is influenced by secondary motivations (such as financial gain or personal recognition) often exacerbated by the pressure of the "publish or perish" culture.
