Dear Participants, Partners, and Collaborators,
This is with great pleasure that the TRREE team informs you that our TRREE course has been recognized by Nigerian National Health Research Ethics Committee (NHERC) as evidence of satisfactory training in informed consent and GCP (for clinical research) as required by the National Code for Health Research Ethics. This is the first official recognition of TRREE by an African competent authority.
According to the Nigerian National Code for Health Research Ethics, all researchers are required to complete training on Informed Consent and on the Nigerian National Code for Health Research Ethics. Clinical researchers are, in addition, required to complete training in GCP.
These three training requirements can be met by completing the following TRREE modules:
- “Informed consent” training: TRREE Modules 1 (Introduction), 2.1 (Research ethics evaluation), and 3.1 (Informed consent);
- "Nigerian National Code for Health Research Ethics" training: Nigerian National Supplement Module;
- "Good Clinical Practice" training: Module 3.2 GCP.
In addition, we are happy to announce that the Nigerian National Supplement has been completed with a quiz that is part of the training requirement as recognized by NHREC. This is the first of such quiz associated with a national supplement. We hope it will not be the last one as this is an additional tool helping all those involved in the protection of research participants to improve their knowledge of the national laws and regulation in biomedical research.
To conclude I wish to congratulate and thank all our local partners who made this possible, in particular Professor Clement Adebamowo, Jadesola Lokulo-Sodipe, Oluwatoyin Akintola, Aminu Yakubu and Olubusola Onasile.
See you soon on TRREE.
Best, Cordialement,
Dominique Sprumont
